Principal Software Engineer, Security and Policy Plane

Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced Principal Software Engineer with hands-on experience in software security and policy plane implementation. In-depth knowledge of host-based firewalls such as IP tables and eBPF is required. Ability to work with the Linux kernel TCP/IP stack and leverage key open-source technologies is a must.

The job involves designing innovative and high performing software security solutions for the next generation of networks. The ideal candidate also has in depth experience with L2 switching, routing and overlay technologies. Familiarity with deep packet inspection (DPI), packet classification and visualization are a plus.



  • Design innovative policy plane solutions by leveraging a combination of off-the-shelf packet processing technologies and custom code developed in-house.
  • Design solutions to ensure policy plane is in sync across different sites and locations and with the cloud-based data stores.
  • Design deep packet inspection technologies to classify end user traffic and visualize them.
  • Work closely with the UI/UX teams to ensure that policy enforcement and traffic visualization are consistent across different sites.


  • 10+ years software development experience in data path and security including L2/L3 switching and routing, host-based firewalls and secure encryption.
  • Deep understanding of current data center and enterprise networking technologies.
  • Experience working with RESTful APIs and writing Python agents for policy download.
  • Desirable to have some programming experience with Golang.
